Jay Raghavendra Pullur

Jay Pullur started his career with Wipro as a software developer, after completing his Masters degree in Computer Science from IIT, Kanpur. Jay traversed through several aspects of software business, including project management and business development, before becoming an entrepreneur. As founder and CEO of Pramati Technologies, Jay has been responsible for inspiring his team of young engineers to build a Java Application server product that could compete against similar products from global software giants. Pramati app server has been deployed in hundreds of enterprises world-wide and featured in Gartner Magic Quadrant for several years. A Deloitte Fast 500 company from Asiapac, Pramati today has shaped itself as successful products and services company focused on the middleware technologies.

 
Sateesh Andra

Sateesh focuses on investment activities in India for DFJ.

Over the past twenty years, DFJ has been proud to back more than 300 companies across many sectors including such industry-changing catalysts as Hotmail (acquired by MSFT), Baidu (BIDU), Skype (acquired by EBAY), United Online (UNTD), Overture (acquired by YHOO)

Sateesh's investment experience includes early stage investments in mGinger and MetroMela. He is a board observer for Cleartrip and Canvera. Prior to DFJ, Sateesh served as President and CEO of Euclid. He also served in marketing and engineering leadership roles at Tsqware (Conexant) and LSI Logic.

 
Prof. Vasudeva Varma

Prof. Vasudeva Varma is a faculty member at International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad Since 2002. Prior to joining IIIT-H, he was the president of MediaCognition India Pvt. Ltd and Chief Architect at MediaCognition Inc. (Cupertino, CA). Earlier he was the director of Engineering and research at InfoDream Corporation, Santa Clara, CA. He also worked for Citicorp and Muze Inc. in New York as senior consultant.

He obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, University of Hyderabad in 1996. He obtained young scientist award and grant from Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, for his proposal on personalized search engines. He recently received Research Faculty Award from AOL Labs., USA.

His areas of interests include search and information extraction, knowledge management and software engineering. He is heading the Search and Information Extraction Lab at Language Technologies Research Center (LTRC) and Software Engineering Research Lab.

 
Suheim Sheikh

Suheim Sheikh, a BTech. From IIT Madras,  is the founder CEO of SDG Software Technologies and was primarily responsible for the design and development of a gamut of Capital Market infrastructure software from Trading systems, Realtime Risk Management to  Settlement and Clearing solutions for Trading intermediaries.

Suheim designed AWACS a Market Survaillance system for Stock Exchanges and Exchange Commissions which is now operational at  exchanges in Asia.

With the advent of the AML regulations across the globe SDG commenced the design and development of an Anti Money Laundering system for Capital Markets, Insurance and Banks called Amlock.

SDG was acquired by 3i Infotech and Suheim continues with 3i Infotech in the role of Global Practice Head for Capital Markets and AML responsible for leveraging a global presence for the products.

Suheim is an avid Yachtsman and has represented India at championships in the Laser Class and is a silver medalist at the Nationals in 1991. He is an avid photographer and was on his university swimming team.

 
S. Ramanathan

Mr Ramanathan has been responsible for Mr. Jan Baan’s investments in India since 1987.

As founder employee and Director he established the Product Development Centre of Baan Company in 1987.. The success of this operation under Mr. Ramanathan’s leadership resulted in greater confidence in India’s capability and subsequently global support, consulting and marketing operations were established in Mumbai. In 1995 he played a key role in identifying and establishing Hyderabad as a growth centre for the Baan Company. Being one of the first major entrants in Hyderabad , he worked closely with the Andhra Pradesh Govt. and played a key role in promoting Hyderabad as an attractive destination for other software companies
Mr. Ramanathan moved from Baan in Feb 2000

Mr. Ramanathan supervised and helped establish several initiatives like Baan Engineering, Vanenburg IT Park and the present day Cordys R&D for Mr. Jan Baan in India . . He has over 20 years experience in setting up global distributed product development centres, global product support operations , venture incubators, high end technology parks and, marketing and sales operations. As Director of Cordys India he is responsible for guiding and mentoring the management teams of R&D and S&D (Sales & Delivery to) take the company to the next growth phase.

He was the former Managing Director of Vanenburg IT Park which is rated as the top 5 IT parks in India. He was involved in the complete business cycle of setting-up, growing and finally exiting this investment in 2005. The IT park currently houses over 10000 people.

 
K. P. Unnikrishnan
Director, Marketing, Alliances & Teleweb Sales Sun Microsystems India Pvt. Ltd

As part of Sun India's leadership team, K.P.Unnikrishnan (Unni) holds the dual responsibility of Director, Marketing and Director, Alliances & Teleweb Sales. Unni heads the marketing operations in India and leads a team of alliance sales managers who build strategic partnerships to drive business opportunities for Sun with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs).

In his capacity as Director Marketing, Unni manages all aspects of marketing across the region, be it branding and advertising, communications, product promotions, partners programs, strategic initiatives and developer outreach programs. Unni is also in charge of media and analyst relations. As the head of Alliances and Teleweb Sales,Unni is responsible for strengthening ISV relationships critical to Sun's success in India. His team focuses on growing Sun's revenue stream by strategically engaging global and Indian ISVs and by driving ISV solutions-led propositions . Additionally, he drives Sun's thrust on teleweb sales in India, which includes developing revenue models and implementing business development initiatives.

Prior to joining Sun Microsystems, Unni used to head the marketing operations for Parametric Technology Corp (PTC) in India . During his stint at the PTC headquarters in Boston, he played a key role in the company's worldwide re-branding initiative. He has also been involved in some large and strategic program rollouts across the globe.

Unni has been recognized for his marketing abilities at numerous Asia Pacific and Worldwide Award platforms for marketing . Some of his innovative brand campaigns have won nominations (Indian Marketing Awards 05 and FICCI BFADS 06) and industry appreciations. Unni has also been named one of the Top 20 Marketing Practitioners and Visionaries in India by PITCH magazine.

In his previous assignments, Unni has worked with Datacraft RPG and HCL Hewlett Packard in the sales function.

Unni is a Mechanical Engineer and holds a diploma in Business Administration. He is an avid reader, enjoys listening to music, traveling, and pursues painting in his leisure time.

 
CK Shastri – Promoter, Chairman and Managing Director

Founder and promoter of Intense Technologies Limited, Shastri has over 22 years of experience in the industry. Shastri founded Intense Technologies Limited with the proverbial fistful of Dollars and limitless dreams and has been instrumental in steering its progress - from a successful IPO to being a software solutions provider of repute. Apart from heading the Board of Directors, he mentors and motivates the Company to dream and achieve even further heights.

 
Srikanth Palem, CEO & Managing Director

Techno Entrepreneur has 15 years of experience in Supply chain & Logistics with companies like Emery World Wide and Hewlett Packard. Srikanth is an Industrial Engineering Graduate from REC, Trichy, India and a Post Graduate in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, USA, and is based in India.

 
Ashhar Farhan, CEO, Spokn Communication Pvt Ltd & Serial Tech Entrepreneur

Startup experience with building products and product companies for 20 years. Previous startups include Computer Corporation (IP acquired by CDAC), which developed Indian script desktop product – the PageComposer.

Hotfoon (acquired by PacketCell Networks, AB) building VoIP infrastructure including softphones, servers and relays.

At present, CEO of Spokn Communications, a Singapore based mobile / white-label voip SAS company. Founded the TiE chapter of Hyderabad along with Srini Raju in 2000. Currently, TiE-Hyderabad’s events chair.

Mentored a few startups in Hyderabad.

 
Mahesh Murthy, Founder and CEO, Pinstorm

Has 20 years of marketing and communications experience – of which over 10 years are in online marketing. After dropping out of college, Mahesh sold vacuum cleaners from door to door and then found a home in advertising with Grey in India and Ogilvy in Hong Kong, where he won international notoriety and awards as a creative director on HP, Microsoft, Unilever, The Economist, Pepsi and MTV - for whom he wrote and directed a spot voted “Asia’s best commercial of the decade”. He then moved to a Silicon Valley firm, CKS Partners (later, USWeb/ CKS) as Creative Director, General Manager and eventually, Partner – where he helped create and launch the first commercial version of Yahoo in 1995 and the “Earth’s biggest bookstore” campaign for Amazon.com in 1997.

After a successful NASDAQ IPO for CKS, Mahesh moved to head marketing at iCat, an e-commerce firm in Seattle, which was subsequently acquired by Intel. Mahesh then returned to India to run Channel V, a rival to MTV, till its sale to Newscorp in 2000 and then founded Passionfund to invest in and guide startups. Some of his investees include Geodesic, Compassbox – merged into Careerlauncher, Cypherix, Indiaproperties and Webdunia. Mahesh penned a reasonably infamous column for India’s leading business magazines, Business Today and Businessworld, and is playing the Donald Trump-equivalent role in an Indian rip-off of The Apprentice, involving entrepreneurs and business plans. While running search marketing campaigns for his favourite charity in late 2003, Mahesh believed there was need to solve some big issues around technology and business models - and set up Pinstorm with a bunch of great people to do so.
