HYSEA Industry – Academia Meet
15th – 16th December 2007

HYSEA Students forum organized a two day Industry - Academia meet on 15th & 16th Dec' 07 at the Infosys campus, Gachibowli. This event was sponsored by Infosys Technologies and supported by IEG(Institute for Electronic Governance, IT&C Dept, Government of AP).

The main objectives of the seminar were:

Explain and discuss the diverse opportunities available to students with the IT and BPO industry
Leverage collaborative working among various stake holders like the Govt, industry and the academia
Lay down a road map for future actions by HYSEA student forum based on the deliberations during the seminar

Shri.S.K.Joshi, Secretary, IT & C Dept, Govt of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the seminar by lighting a lamp. Around  200 faculty members from Engineering and MCA colleges in AP attended the seminar on the first day. Mr. Joshi in his keynote address explained various initiatives taken by the government to improve the quality of the engineering education in the State and also increase the hiring ratio by the Industry. This was followed by a very interactive Q&A session with the participants. Some of the eminent personalities who addressed the faculty members were Dr.P.R.Naga Srinivasa,Dean Personality development, Training & placement, SNIST, Mr.Narsimha Rao M,Head - Hyderabad Development Center, Infosys, Mr.Bipin Chandra,Sr.Vice President, Knoah Solutions. Issues raised by the speakers and the participants were deliberated in detail through a panel discussion. Experts from Govt, Industry, media and academia comprising Mr. Amarnath Reddy, CEO, IEG, Mr.Vishu Raju, Chairman of Sri Vishnu Educational Society, Dr K. Lal Kishore, Registrar - JNTU, Mr. B. Krishnamurthy, Head - Hyderabad Development Center, Wipro and Mr. Bipin Chandra, Sr Vice President of Knoah Solutions were part of the panel. Mr. Srinagesh, Sr Manager,Infosys anchored the panel discussions.

The second day of the seminar had its focus on diverse opportunities for students with the IT/ITES Industry. 1600 students from various Engineering and MCA colleges of AP attended the seminar. Srinagesh, Sr Manager, Infosys set the expectation for the day. Some of the eminent personalities who spoke to the students include Mr. B. Krishnamurthy Head - Hyderabad Development Center, Wipro, Mr.Rajan Susaira,AVP - HR and Karnakar Voruganti, AVP -IT Operations, HSBC Global Resoucing, Hyderabad Center, Mr.Susanta Misra,Director - Motorola Hyderabad Software Centre, Ms.Jyothi Muthappa,Head - Recruitment, and Mr.Prasad Sivalanka, AVP, Wells Fargo India Solutions, Mr.Sateesh Andra, Venture Partner, DFJ Venture capital and Dr.Sandhya Chintala, Director - Education initiative, NASSCOM. A very lively and interactive panel discussion followed. Dr.Anil Jampala, President, HYSEA , Dr.Chandrasekhar, Director - Academic Affairs, IEG, Prof.ARK Prasad, Professor in-Charge Training & Placement, JNTU, Prof. Putcha.V.Narasimham,Director, Andhra Mahila Sabha School of Informatics, and Dr.Kiranmai,VP-HR & Training,Knoah Solutions constituted the panel with Mr. Srinagesh from Infosys as the anchor.

The HYSEA Student Design Competition was also formally launched during this occasion.
